The Hideout
COMPOSER CALL OUT
Hikapee have a new show, and we’re looking for a composer!
‘The Hideout’ is a brand new indoor circus theatre show for 4-8 year olds.
Taking place on a large fallen tree structure, this will be a fun and dynamic show, exploring themes of friendship, anxiety and mental health and will be touring to a range of theatres from September 2026.
We are looking for a composer to work with us in the rehearsal room who will compose as we continue to devise the show, building upon what we created during the R&D period last year. Our aim is for the music and physical performance to influence one another, to truly support the narrative of the piece. The Hideout will be largely non-verbal so we expect the music to underscore and help narrate the whole 45 minute show.
For the project so far, we have used pre-recorded music so you will be starting fresh. We are open to discussion about the style of music, including the use of specific instruments, but are keen to explore the use of percussion and drums to be used as they fit the narrative of the piece.
If you think you might be right for this role, and want to join this lovely team, we’d love to hear from you!
You must be available for the majority of our three & a half rehearsal weeks taking place at:
The Horton, Epsom - Sunday 22nd- Thursday 26th March
The Horton, Epsom - Sunday 12th - Thursday 16th April
The Horton, Epsom - Monday 24th - Friday 28th August
Pavillion Theatre, Worthing - 31st August - 1st Sept (Tech and Dress)
Accommodation will be provided for the dates in Worthing.
Fee: £2500

The deadline for this call out is 5pm Friday 27th February 2026, however we may close the call out early if we find the right person as we’re aware rehearsals begin relatively soon.
If interested, please email Edd & Bryony with snippets of your previous work, your CV and why you think you are right for this project (written, video or audio).

Fallax
For the past few years, we have been bubbling away in the background, working on something new, and something exceptional.
In collaboration with the incredible team at Huldufugl (based in Iceland) - we have created a VR Film, ‘Fallax’.
The film premiered in Prague in Autumn 2025 and since won its first award - the IMMERSIVE AWARD at Imagine Film Festival, Amsterdam.
The film is programmed to appear at a number of festivals worldwide over the coming months, with a scheduled release date on major VR platforms in late 2026.
Flourish
Following a period of Research & Development, watch this space for our new & ambitious outdoor show - Flourish.
This project will see us explore durational performance, and audience connection in a whole new way.
Flourish R&D was supported by Arts Council England, 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space, Out There Arts & The Horton Epsom.
