This 5 hour epic journey emphasises the importance of taking risks, nurturing dreams, and finding your individual flourish, before then fully connecting with those around us.
Flourish follows individual characters, all who are stuck and isolated in some way. Surrounded by people, they are watched by an expecting audience, unable to fully connect.
With a 3.5m high freestanding clear, twisted Perspex structure & a moveable ladder, we see characters move in, on and around the set and space surrounding it. Audiences are encouraged to come up close to the performers, to watch, play games & touch hands, separated only by a transparent wall, and then to stand back to witness bigger dynamic choreographed scenes.
Flourish is a durational performance (with an installation feel) which lasts over 5 hours, with performers keeping the structure & space perpetually alive. The characters' stories are told non-verbally, playing out over the course of the day.
Our Research & Development is took place in Spring/ Summer 2025, with creation time at 101 Outdoor Arts (Newbury), Out There Arts (Great Yarmouth) and The Horton (Epsom), and a public work-in-progress sharing in Staines upon Thames.
We are looking ahead to tour the show in 2026.
